Little One

Oh dear. I can't believe it's been almost a month since I last updated! A lot has happened, as tends to be the case when you let blogging lapse for a while. I feel really bad about that because I know my Secret Pal has had very little to work with and very little blog-based thanks. I'm usually a lot better at blogging than I have been showing lately.

So what is newsworthy and what can I just write off as "stuff happens"? Newsworthy item numer one would have to be my third SP package, thanks to my Secret Pal (who really has been wonderful, despite the lack of entries here). I am not exactly sure when it arrived but I picked it up from mum's this afternoon (all my packages get sent to mum's) and it contained two skeins of a linen & cotton blend yarn, a beautiful crocheted-edged handtowel, a very cute pen and some delicious chocolate! It would be my favourite, if I could get it here!

The towel has pride of place on my towel rail in the bathroom - I think all my towels could benefit from a nice, crocheted edge...

The reason I haven't been crocheting much (and I have been doing a little) lately, particularly this week, is because I adopted a kitten last Saturday who has been keeping me on my toes and would be impossible to crochet around. Given his penchant for my yarn, I haven't actually attempted crocheting - I think he needs to be a bit older and grow out of this psychotic kitten phase before I start dangling yarn in front of him and expect him to ignore it. He's really very sweet, 9 weeks old and from the RSPCA (where everyone should go to get their pets). He hasn't got a name yet because I haven't found one that suits him that he responds to but we're working on it. Usually he's "Sweetie", "Little One" or "Cheeky Chops" depending on what he's doing or how I'm feeling...

The best time is, of course, "snuggle time" and he really is a snuggle-loving cat and he does sleep on my lap when he's all played out. I love it when he does that but I must admit, I am not terribly keen on the midnight crazies which keep happening (starting around this time and going on for goodness knows how long - I get exhausted just watching him and then eventually I fall asleep). I am sure one day I'll come home from work and want to play with him and he just won't be interested, too busy trying to sleep or whatever, so I try and appreciate his playfulness now, even if I am literally covered in scratches. He hasn't learned his manners yet but he's getting there.

Poor Angel, she came over for a visit this evening and she was petrified of the kitten. Angel has been putting on weight lately and she's really quite solid - added to the fact that she needs a good haircut and I have been dealing with a 500g kitten, when I saw her tonight, I was more than a bit surprised. She felt heavy, too - as I discovered when she clambered up my back and perched her rather rotund body on my shoulder! In addition to having the only dog in the world who is frightened I'm going to run away from her when we go out, I can also say I have the wimpiest dog in creation. She is at least 10x the size of the cat and she becomes even more of a quivering mess if he so much as looks at her. I hope kitty settles down and Angel can learn to live with him because I really want her here with me and I might not have been so keen to get a cat (although I do love cats) if I didn't think it would be good for her to have company if she does come here, instead of being here by herself when I'm at work.

Anyway, it's ominously silent "out there" so I must go and investigate because, as I have learned, ominous silence during the midnight crazies is not the best thing. I'll leave off with two photos:

All Worn Out
I have some more updating I need to do so hopefully tomorrow will be a good time for it!

Catching Up

I've been really slack with the blogging lately, haven't I? In my defense, I had the 'flu and that knocked me around for a few days and, apart from that, I've been quite busy with work and family related things.

We went to Ikea the weekend before last. I liked Ikea and there was a lot I'd buy from there (I did buy some bits and pieces, mainly kitchen things) but I think I can easily go another year without stepping foot back into the shop. My sister wanted to buy a dining table and chairs, which she did - but, of course, we ended up with the wrong chairs which she didn't discover until she went home and carried all the chairs upstairs (isn't it always the way?). We had to go back to pick up the table that evening so we switched the chairs as well and then there started a long night of putting pieces together. Ikea furniture is easier to put together than Fantastic furniture, I can say from experience.

I stayed at my sister's place that night and then we went and had Yum Cha the next day and then I fell asleep on her lounge while she was organising a cupboard. This is all while I've got the 'flu.
Then I had a few days off work because I was sick, which is somehow never as fun as having time off when you're well, is it?

This weekend just gone, we had dinner and watched the Footy at my sister's place, then I stayed over at mum's on Friday night because I was too tired to drive home. Saturday morning, my sister and I went shopping and then I came back here. It was miserable on Friday and Saturday - a lot of rain. Sunday was a nicer day weather-wise and it was also Father's Day here in Aus. Since we don't have anything to do with our father, we had mum around to my place in the morning for breakfast and gave her some "Father's Day gifts" and then we went into the city to see the David Jones' flower display. It was very pretty. Apart from all that, I've been working and that's about it.

So my blog has now caught up with my life. A bit of a shame that I haven't anything more exciting to write about...

Just A Quick One

I'm really letting myself down with the blogging lately. Unfortunately, my camera is still at work and I keep forgetting it there - I did bring it home last week but then I had to take it in again and so it goes. I might just remember to bring it home tonight in which case I'll get some long overdue photos up.

One of my friends at work gave me a lovely present yesterday for helping her, which I do as much as I can - it was unexpected and very pleasant.

I've been busy with work, last week was particularly busy and it was mum's birthday as well, so that added to my "to do" list.

That's all I have time for this morning but I'll post again tonight with those photos.

Blogger has been very frustrating for me lately so I must admit, I have been very slack with my posting lately!

I must apologise and give a sincere, if belated, thanks to my Secret Pal for the wonderful package she sent me recently. Not green this time but blue!

It contained: two skeins of a very fine, blue-ish yarn (not sure what the fibre is?), some vanilla coffee (very yummy), a very sweet little pot holder and...my very own pair of handknitted socks! They're delightful and they fit very nicely. Thank you, Secret Pal - you're a star!

My camera is in my bag as I have had it at work and almost forgot to bring it home today but I took some photos of Coogee while we were there this morning so as soon as I have dinner sorted out, I'll upload photos of Coogee and my Secret Pal package.

Stormy Weather

A couple of days of relatively cool weather with a few showers thrown in - I was happy to see the rainbow from my balcony, I get quite a nice view of the sky from where I sit.

On cold, miserable days, a hot bubble bath is a good option. Especially since the drain from my shower is still playing up!

No Aphrodisiac

I have been so slack posting lately but even worse with my crocheting - I haven't done any crocheting worth mentioning for what feels like the longest time. It's a bit sad really, when I'm watching TV I want to crochet but I don't know what to start...

Today has been very boring, I just cleaned...

I don't usually bother with YouTube but I really wanted to listen to this song tonight and I can't find my CD so ...

"No Aphrodisiac" - The Whitlams.

My Secret Pal has let me know another package is on the way, I am looking forward to it arriving safely and hopefully soon. The first one arrived rather quickly so who knows? My Spoilee can look forward to receiving a package shortly, too - I am not sure how long it will take to reach it's destination, never having sent anything to this particular country before but I hope it doesn't take too long. Photos etc will be posted at the conclusion of SP12, if I remember.

8000 Words?

Edited to add: Since my sister had some trouble working out how the title related to the entry, if "a picture is worth a thousand words", I figured 8 pictures would do quite well as an entry on their own. Two sunrises (different days), three pictures I took at Cronulla, one alpaca beanie I crocheted for K, my only gardenia bloom thus far and my new watch. I could quite easily expand on that and reach the aforementioned total of 8000 words but I am too tired.
